How to measure

It is best to get someone else to take your measurements for more accuracy. Below are instructions for the correct way to take your measurements whether it is with the assistance of someone, or you are taking them yourself.

Optimal posture for taking measurements

Bust
Measurer: Stand at the back of the customer
Technique: With tape measure parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of the bust.

* If taking this measurement yourself, measure around the fullest part of the bust with the tape to the front right of you.

Waist
Measurer: Stand at the right side of the customer
Technique: Measure horizontally around the natural waist to the right of the customer

* The natural waist may be difficult to locate on some body shapes so a useful technique is to tie a cotton tape around the smallest part of the torso and move around a little. The natural waist is where the cotton tape ends up sitting. It is normally higher in the torso than expected.

Hips
Measurer: Stand at the right side of the customer
Technique: With the tape measure parallel to the floor measure around the fullest part of the buttocks.

* This measurement is often taken incorrectly as hip position is confused with the pelvic bone. A true hip measurement is taken around the buttock as this is the fullest part of the body.
